REFI the local ESN group, part of the Austrian Student Union and assists visiting students during their stay in Linz. They can address many questions you may have on living and studying in Linz.
The REFI consists of about 20 students who do their job totally voluntary and this support is essential to the International Office.
Services for exchange students:
Student Mentor System: Each exchange student will be assigned an Austrian student who will assist you in getting through the "university jungle".
Pickup Service (from the airport or the railway station upon arriving at Linz)
Excursions and Events: At the beginning of as well as during each semester, and also during the semester REFI offers a programme of events and excursions for exchange students, such as welcome party, film evenings, visit to the casino, excursions (to Vienna, Prague, Budapest), flea market, sporting events, etc.
Tandem Learning: This programme is offered together with the Department of Business Languages. People with two different native languages come together and talk to each other, improving their language skills.
Office hours: Office hours are held regularly and offer help if problems occur during your stay in Linz. The exact times can be found at the REFI's notice board or on its homepage.
Additional services: pick up service, welcome package, rental of kitchen supplies in good condition for a low fee, journals and magazines available to be borrowed, city maps, application forms for the “ÖBB-Vorteilscard”.
