1. Application procedure for exchange students

You are required to send the following documents to the International Office:

• Application Form for Exchange Students (other forms - e.g. the ECTS application form - will not be accepted)
• Academic transcript of records (list of passed courses from your home university)
• 1 passport-sized photograph
• a copy of your valid passport

The deadlines are:
June 1 for the winter semester/academic year
December 1 for the summer semester

As soon as all application materials have arrived and your housing has been confirmed by the hall of residence, you will receive by e-mail:

• a Letter of Acceptance
• information on housing arrangements (provided a housing form was sent to the International Office)

A confirmation of your registration for the intensive German language course and/or the cultural sensitivity training will also be sent by e-mail.

Internship option: If you want to come to Linz with the purpose of doing an internship we ask you to submit us your internship application materials first. The respective deadlines are

• April 1 for a placement starting in October and
  
• October 1 for a placement starting in March
  

2. Application procedure for Erasmus free mover students

You can apply for admission as Erasmus free mover student for a period of up to one academic year if

1. your home university is eligible for participation in the Socrates/Erasmus programme,
2. there exists no student exchange agreement between your home university and the Johannes Kepler University Linz AND
3. you will be nominated as Erasmus student by your home university
4. your home university is willing to sign a bilateral agreement once you are accepted

You need the following documents for an application at JKU:

• Application Form for Exchange Students (other forms - e.g. the ECTS application form - will not be accepted)
• Academic Transcript of Records from your home university
• C.V.
• Letter of Motivation
• one passport-sized photograph
• a copy of your passport

The nomination as an Erasmus free mover student has to be submitted by the beginning of the semester. You will be informed in writing whether your application has been approved or not.

Please mind the following application deadlines:

• June 1 for the following winter semester
• November 1 for the summer semester

Students from universities that are not eligible for participation in the Socrates/Erasmus programme and who don't come to Linz within an exchange programme, have to apply for admission with the Studies and Examination Department. 3. Application for the extension of the exchange period at JKU

You were originally nominated by your home university to stay at JKU only for the winter semester and you would like to extend your stay for a further semester?

To apply for the extension of your stay, you must submit the Application for the Extension of your Exchange period at JKU to the International Office.

Please mind the application deadline of December 1.

After receiving and checking the application for the extension of your exchange period, the International Office of Johannes Kepler University will send an e-mail with the outcome of the application to the applicant.
